Frequently asked questions
At LifeSearch our mission is ‘To protect the UK, properly’. We've been working to that objective since 1998, establishing ourselves as the leading independent protection advice specialist in the UK.
Over that time, we have protected over 1.9 million individuals, won more than 105 industry awards and we're proud to maintain an ‘Excellent’ Trustpilot rating (4.9 out of 5) from our protected families.
Life insurance protects your loved ones with a lump sum payout, ensuring that they don’t suffer financially if you’re not around anymore. A policy is usually bought to cover the period (or term) that your family most need help i.e. during a mortgage term, or when your children are financially dependent on you.
Life insurance covers common causes of death such as illness, disease, cancer, heart attacks or accidents. Depending on your cover, it may also cover a terminal illness diagnosis and suicide. Common exclusions are pre-agreed medical conditions, chronic illnesses, disabilities, drug and alcohol abuse and high-risk activities.
The cost of life insurance varies a lot. Prices can start from less than £8 a month*, but it’s dependent on your own needs and shouldn’t be used as a figure to budget with. Factors that affect the price you pay include:
- Your age
- Lifestyle
- Health
- How much cover you need
- Additional products you may want to explore
- Other people you want to protect
At LifeSearch, we’ll do the hard work for you and search leading UK insurers. And we’ll explain your options, what’s included (and what isn’t) and the costs.
*Pricing information obtained 08/10/2024. Based on £200k worth of level term assurance over a 25 year term, cover for a 30 year old non-smoker, with no medical history.
